Job: Dog Trainer
Job description: We are a small, tightly knit team of dog lovers, our trainers will run group classes, assist, and/or run Puppy Play Hours each week. Your job here will be fun, diverse, and busy.
· CPDT-KA or KPA certification is a plus and/or working toward certifications
· We offer a flexible schedule
· Part-Time hours to start with the opportunity for growth
· Wage is based on experience
Responsibilities:
· Teaching in a classroom environment, helping human students in learning new skills to in turn teaching their dogs each week’s curriculums exercises.
· Writing and following class curriculums
· Most classes are 6-weeks long and you are responsible to teach each round of 6-weeks
· Sending out handouts and homework to each student
· Take pictures during play or training and posting photos of puppies and dogs on social media after classes
· Cleaning up pet waste, sweeping, mopping, garbage, sanitation of the room before each class, emptying and filling water bowls
Requirements:
· At least 18 years of age
· The ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
· Must be able to stand for long periods of time
· Eager to learn, and adapt to a human and dog’s unique needs
· Gain a new understanding of dog behavior, body language and group dynamics
· Able to provide education to our cliental under the direction of the owner Lisa Wisdom
· Willing to work inside and outside for classes and private lessons
· A trainer must be attentive, flexible, responsive, safe, open minded, respectful, and responsible
· Our trainers work closely with our clients and their dogs, this requires attention to details, management of classes and/or private lessons, customer service skills and a drive to learn more
· Facilitate safe playtime in our play hours with other puppies and dogs, toys, training games and more!
Our Training Mission:
We provide fun group classes that help build on new skills each week, trouble shoot problem behaviors that sometimes require private lesson to further help a client and their puppy or dog become better skilled in a problem area. Our goal is great customer service, with open communication and attention to detail, to help our client reach their training goals.
Job: Puppy Adventure Crew Member
Job description: We are a small, tightly knit team of dog lovers and certified dog trainers. Our trainers team up and run our new Puppy Adventures. We pick up and drop off a group of dogs and take the group hiking on Portland and Clackamas hiking trails. We work on positive reinforcement training, teaching puppies how to play with fellow dog friends appropriately, leash walking, and much more. Your job here will be fun, diverse, and busy.
· Flexible Schedule
· Part-Time hours to start with the opportunity for growth
· Monday – Friday bookings only
· $15/hour to start, with incentives based on experience
Responsibilities:
· Safe transportation of picking up and dropping off all puppies and dogs at our designated locations
· Familiar with all types of leashes, harnesses, gentle leader head halters, the use of long-lines with multi-able dogs at a time, and other dog gear
· Cleaning up and disposal of all pet waste properly
· Hike with 2 dogs at a time
· Work within our tight-knit team of trainers and other crew members
· Ensuring all dogs always have fresh water available
· Take pictures during play or training and post photos to clients and on social media after the hike
Requirements:
· At least 18 years of age
· The ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
· Must be able to walk for 2-5 miles without difficulty
· Able to adapt to help out each crew member and each dog’s unique needs
· Gain a new understanding of dog behavior, body language, and group dynamics
· Able to provide information and education to our clients about dog behavior under the direction of the owner of WNWDT
· Willing to work outside in all weather, including Oregon rainy seasons
· Are crew members must be attentive, flexible, responsive, safe, open-minded, respectful, and responsible for themselves and each dog under their watch
· Our trainers work closely with our clients and their puppies and dogs, this requires attention to detail, management of excellent customer service skills, and a drive to learn more about dog body language and behavior
· Facilitate safe playtime in our groups in fenced areas or when dogs are on long line
