What is Treibball?

TREIBBALL (pronounced Try-ball) is a new dog sport invented in Germany by Jan Nijboer. This new competitive sport is a positive reinforcement based for dogs of all breeds and ages who love to play chase games, herd, or who just want to have fun! To play Treibball, dogs learn to herd exercise balls into a goal with the direction of their handler. Communication between the human and canine partners is the true essence of this game. The dog learns the key commands of targeting, orientation, impulse control, drive, and distance work. Any dog can learn to play Treibball!

How do classes work?

Our Treibball classes meet once per week for 6 weeks. Each week, your instructor will email a summary of what we practiced in class, as well as any helpful handouts and videos.

We provide the necessary balls, targets, and other equipment during classes - all you need is your dog and their favorite treats!

This foundation level class will cover orientation behind the ball, directional cues, and when and how to push the ball. All the Treibball basics to get you started!

Intermediate

This is where the real fun begins! We will begin to start building patterns and playing games to build on orientation, pushing, distance, duration around the balls. Teams will begin to work one on one while other teams watch and take turns just like a match would be set up in the real world.
